Presentation

Yesterday some of us were up for conveying our topic presentations in class and I was amongst of those presented in class now it’s time for the next challenges of my studies.

I discovered that all of us found it challenging to present our topics in only 5 minutes nevertheless it was a good experience and I really wish I can be able not afraid of the stage and gain more confidence in myself.

Internet filtering

Parenting in the 21 century it’s not  an easy job  with technology around us. Soldiers die in a war tighting for victory. We can do our best to protect our society (kids) from internet filtering  by using every weapon we can afford and fight for better society.  http://www1.k9webprotection.com/

Support open access

Open access is growing very slowly than expected to grow nevertheless fears is the major effect as a result researchers  withhold information they have producedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5rVH1KGBCY . They are uninformed that they can still protect their work while is on open access. I discovered a website that can help you to license your precious work http://creativecommons.org/ even your presentation can be protected.

But the big question remains: Do support open access? Why not? Do you care?

National library week “Educate Yourself @ Your Library”

The theme for 2013 is “Educate Yourself @ Your Library” as libraries have always played a crucial role in education and self-development, school, academic, public or special library. Currently the public library is largely fulfilling a school library role to fill the gap left by the lack of school libraries. Apart from the “formal” role that libraries play in this arena, they have also always played an informal role in the education of communities as “the university of the people”. The concept of lifelong learning is embodied in all libraries especially public and community libraries. The fact that any person, young or old, rich or poor, employed or unemployed, can walk into a library and find information (in both electronic and traditional formats) to educate and enrich themselves, for free, is one of the major pluses in the favors of libraries.

Librarians across the country will be hosting special programs during this week to highlight the services and resources available in their facilities. Members of the public are encouraged to visit their libraries during this period and participate in these activities
